Born in 1944, Patrice Chéreau has enjoyed remarkable success all over Europe as a director of film (including, 'La Reine Margot', in 1994), theatre and Opera (including the famed Bayreuth production of Wagner's 'Ring Cycle' in 1976-80). He has recently completed his first film in English, 'Intimacy', written by Hanif Kureishi.
