Born in 1958 in Bailleul, France, the town in which L'HUMANITÉ is set, Dumont had
a varied career in teaching, advertising, journalism and television before turning his
hand to filmmaking. His first feature, 'La Vie de Jésus', won multiple awards and
established him as a director of unique vision. L'HUMANITÉ is Dumonts second
feature film. It was part of the official competition in Cannes 1999, where it won
the Grand Prix du Jury and the Best Actor and Best Actress Prize.
