Stéphane Rousseau, 36 years old, has certainly proved his artistic versatility to his many Canadian fans: comic performer, dancer, crooner, musician, radio host, sculptor, painter, he's also shown, more recently, great acting skills.
At the early age of 13, he started performing in clubs and cabarets before Roméo Pérusse took him under his wings and gave him his first solo shots.
In 1991, drawing inspiration from improvisation acts and the American stand up comedians, he created his first one-man show - Rousseau - at the Saint-Denis Theatre and takes Quebec by storm: 300,000 watched his performance, making him the number one humourist of Quebec.
In 1993, he got the Felix Award for Best Comic Performance. His next one man shows, 'Drôle' in 1995 and 'Stephane Rousseau' in 2000, meet rave reviews. Drôle was rewarded with two Olivier Prizes in 1996 (Best Show, Best Performer), and his performance at the 1997 Montreal Comedy Festival was one of the festival highlights. After he guest starred in Celine Dion's Millenium Show at the Molson Center, his career took on a truly international dimension. In 2001, Stéphane Rousseau opened at the Paris 'Bataclan' theatre where he won over critics and fans nicknamed him the 'Brad Pitt' of humourists.
