ABRAHAM VALLEY (Vale Abraão)

During a priveleged childhood with her doting father, Ema discovers she has enormous power over men, causing car crashes just by standing in a country road.
Although she is married to a young doctor and has three lovers, Ema fails to gain anything real from her relationships except an enormous feeling of disillusionment.

Beneath the beautiful surface of the film is an ironic look at personal vanity.

Directed by the legendary Manoel de Oliveira, ABRAHAM VALLEY is a Portuguese re-working of the themes of 'Madame Bovary'.
