THE STRANGER

Satyajit Ray is undisputably one of
the greatest film-makers of the century.

His latest film explores the familial bonds
of an Indian family when a long lost
relative returns home after a 35 year
absence.
Although Anila has no memory of her
uncle Manomohan, he is invited to stay
for a week and soon wins the friend-
ship of her son.

However, Anila's husband distrusts Manomohan, believing him to be an imposter come
to collect an unclaimed family legacy.
A parable of domestic greed and mistrust, 'The Stranger' exhibits Satyajit Ray's confidence in humanity's good will.
Before his death in 1992, Ray was presented with an honorary American Academy Award for his life's work.
