A LA PLACE DU COEUR (One from the Heart)

'A la Place du Coeur' is a sensitive and moving drama from director Robert Guédiguian, maker of the acclaimed 'Marius & Jeanette'. Adapted from James Baldwin's novel 'If Beale Street Could Talk', the New York setting is transported to modern-day Marseilles. Bébé, an 18 year old black man, is imprisoned after being wrongfully accused by a racist cop of raping a Bosnian woman. When his girlfriend Clim reveals that she is pregnant, the parents of both youngsters join forces in the struggle to free Bébé. Clim's mother journeys to Sarajevo in an attempt to get the young rape victim to retract her false accusation... Guédiguian handles his characters with great compassion and tolerance and elicits terrific performances from a talented cast.
