Scott Walker was born in the USA. A pop singer in the sixties, a respected translator and performer of Jacques Brel's work in the seventies he has since acquired the reputation of a demanding artist. Despite the rarity of his releases over the last twenty years, numerous articles have been written about him.
Viewed as a sort of Orson Welles whose talents are praised by an industry that has never wanted to finance his recordings, he is still admired by singers and composers of various generations, all aware of his influence on them: David Bowie, Julian Cope,
Marc Almond, Divine Comedy, David Sylvain etc.
Recently Walker curated the annual Meltdown festival at the Royal Festival Hall in London, for which a different Artistic Director is chosen each year.
