The Makhmalbaf Film House The leading production company in Iran, which has done so much to fuel the recent resurgence in Iranian cinema, is headed by the respected filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf, director of the recent 'Khandahar' and writer of his daughter Samira's 'The Apple' and 'Blackboards'. Working from her husband Mohsen's screenplay, this is Marziyeh Meshkini's first feature film.
