Mozart's DON GIOVANNI is one of the
highest points of the operatic repertoire,
a tragi-comedy that combines sexual
humour with the terrors of hell, a mixture
of serious music, drama and comic set
pieces that brought forth some of Mozart's
most perfect music.
When Joseph Losey's immensely success-ful film was made, it was unique in being
not just a filmed recording from the stage
or studio, but was shot entirely on location in Italy, in and around Vincenza, using as
settings many of the beautiful Palladian villas in the region.
